$390 per night for everything included was a great deal. Great quality for the $$

I was searching for an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica that wasn't the typical Sandals-type mega-resort and came across "The Caves" in Negril. I had been to Ocho Rios before and then to Montego Bay so I wanted to see Negril because of the better beaches and it's the southern coast. The ride from the airport was in a nice big bus like all the other hotels and we stopped for a Red Stripe and meat pie which was great and overall it took about 90 minutes to get to the hotel. You are greeted with a rum drink and check-in took only 5 minutes and then they take you to your room which is built right into the side of the small cliff overlooking the water. It is beyond description and you can hear the waves and smell the salt air. The meals were served at specified windows of seatings and since there only like 20 guests at the entire place so you need to be there or you'll miss the meal. They do offer room service if you decide to sleep late or whatever so you don't have to worry about being hungry! The drinks are top shelf and not weak at all and they even have a private dinner in a very special cave that was amazing! The hot tub is in a cave also which was so romantic and perfect!

You can dive from the cliff into the water to snorkel or just lay out on one of the many ledges with a great chair and unlimited drinks brought by very friendly wait staff. This place was like heaven and I cannot imagine a better vacation experience. Spend the money and come here if you can because you will never forget it and all other resorts will never live up to "The Caves"!

When I arrived at the airport in Montego Bay I had to wait for nearly 2 hours for my shuttle to the hotel which sucked. This hotel doesn't have a lounge inside the airport like some of the other bigger resorts so we sat outside in the humidity drinking Red Stripe. We finally made the 2 hour trip to Ocho Rios and there was a rum drink waiting at the hotel which is customary for Jamaica. Check-in was about 20 minutes and the hotel staff was great. The room was really nice and big and had a complete ocean view with a big balcony. The hotel used to be the Sandals Ocho Rios Resort so it isn't small but it isn't nearly as large as some of the bigger resorts in Jamaica. There were 5 restaurants and each was really good and totally different. The Hibachi was probably my favorite because of how fun it was with our chef who was a young Jamaican guy but he called himself "Blackie Chan" who put on a great show. The food was decent and you have to have a reservation. There is a 24 hour grill where they make jerk chicken and pork as well as burgers and fries with an unlimited soft drink machine. The pizza kitchen was awesome but only open during the lunch and dinner and closed at 11. The swim up bar in the pools was great and we met a lot of nice people there from all over and it made it easy to have fun and meet new friends. There was a piano bar with sing alongs at night as well as the night club with musical and magic acts and dancing etc. I spent most of my time by the water which was nice and the drinks were never ending. This place was a great find and you cannot beat the service and quality for the price. King size poster beds in every room were nice!

$422 per night for the hotel plus another $90 each way to the airport plus food and drinks. Not a bargain but very nice.

When I went to Australia I studied the map to see where else I could go that was in the area. I had been to New Zealand and went to Indonesia so I wanted to maybe go to the Cook Islands or Tahiti or Bora Bora in the South Pacific. I decided on Turtle Island Resort in Fiji simply because it is so highly rated to be the most prolific resort in the world & many celebs go there. I got a brochure and a DVD in the mail and when I saw it I was blown away. The water was like something in a screen saver and the accomodations were from a fairy tale. I had tremendous expectations when I saw the DVD and I can honestly say it was even better in person. I don't want to say the price but put it this way; you could buy a brand new Mini Cooper for the price of a week at this place. If you saw the film Blue Lagoon with Brook Shields, it was filmed here!

I flew Air Pacific from Brisbane to Aukland to Nadi and then had to take the sea plane to Turtle Island. On the flight you look down into that water and you cannot believe that it's real. It is the most amazing color of turquoise I have ever seen and you can see every coral head and reef like it was right there. The food was perfect with fresh fish every night and wonderful breakfasts every morning with great pastry and fruits. The staff was constantly within a distance to hear if you need something and always making things better and better. The linens on the bed were outrageous and I wanted to take them home! The weather was a little shaky with rain 5 of the 7 days but I didn't care. I still spent every minute relaxing and soaking in the luxury that Most people could never even imagine. You are waited on hand and foot and get the greatest resort experience of your life. The only problem is that you eventually have to return home and no matter who you are it could not be as good as this. It changed my life forever.

I stayed in Shipwreck #2 which was a truly amazing experience for beach front resort accomodations. The hotel is small but wonderful and the water is so amazing and warm. The island is tiny and there are only 2 or 3 places to get a meal and my favorite was Porter's Thyme because of the great fresh fish. We rode bikes around the island and went clamming which were cooked for us in a caribbean style with lime and coconut rice which was so good I couldn't believe it.

The snorkeling was really nice but the water was a little rough a few days. The beach was nice and the view was always great. There was a little island with just a few palm trees that you could take the kayak out to and have a picnic which was so amazing. We spent the day snorkeling and feeding the little fish bread and saw some pretty huge Barricuda who were very curious but they are never much of a threat. On the last day a group of nurse charks were being fed the scraps from the fish being cleaned and we got into the water with them and as they were feeding we were able to touch them and inter-act with them which was so cool.

The hotel itself is very small and you can actually reserve the entire thing if you have a group so that's an idea for the future for a wedding party. It's a really beautiful hotel and the water is just gorgeous. The fishing was incredible because I kept seeing fisherman come in every afternoon with plenty of grouper and lobsters and snapper which were all available to buy right at the dock for great prices and the hotel would cook them up for you for $15 which I did almost every afternoon with lobster and conch. The beers were cold, the food was great and fresh and the water was awesome so this vacation was really nice. I would go back again but off season.

Bimini Bay Resort is brand new and at the very end of Kings Highway. There are a few taxi's on the island and Milton was my favorite in his maroon van! He is a character for sure! The resort is a collection of pastel villas and a nice little village setting with some boutiques and a few restaurants. I went in the summer and the hotel restaurants were closed during the day and it was really tough to get food without leaving the resort. To me that is messed up and that's where the half star comes from. The villa was awesome with a huge loft bedroom and great bathrooms as well. The wifi doesn't work in the villas so you have to go to the hotspots at the pools or the reception area, which both are not very close.

You can get some sweet deals if you book 7 nights - you get 1 or 2 nights free and a flight credit! Also make sure you visit the roadside conch stands! They have great food and cold beer and are so much fun!

On Wednesday nights is Kaoroke on South Island at Mackey's which was a great time. The energy was awesome and even the bus ride on an old school bus with a rasta driving bumping reggae and everyone dancing and singing...one of the best times out I've had in my life, Just be sure to rent a golf cart to get around. They aren't cheap at $90 per day! And buy your beer in the supermarket because a case of Corona is $85! Nothing on Bimini is cheap so be prepared but it is one of the true great places to relax and enjoy the water and sun and the people are great.

The only way to get to Staniel Cay from the US is a direct flight on Watermaker's Air charter which you board right in the hangar in the Ft Lauderale airport. The plane is small and holds 12 people and takes about 90 minutes. When you arrive you are greeted with typical island friendliness and the van takes you right to the resort which is nearby. The Staniel Cay Yacht club is really the only place on the island to stay. A lot of the people there sailed in on their boats which was interesting conversation at dinner. Oh, everything takes place at the bar! Checkin and checkout is at the bar and they don't accept credit cards so make sure you bring cash. It's a very safe place considering it's so tiny that if someone committed a crime you could find them within minutes! The coolest part of this trip was the day we spent on our new friend's boat going over to Pig Island and parasailing. That was just amazing and something I cannot wait to do again! The pigs live on the island and swim out to greet you when your boat gets close enough! They are there for food which the hotel gives you in the form of apples and scraps from the kitchen. The pigs are friendly and adorable and they are huge in person! I had a favorite which I named Stella because she was this pink diva who laid in the sun with her eyes closed listening to the music we played from the boat while we snorkeled. We swam with nurse sharks and lemon sharks and reef sharks and had fresh fish every night that was delicious and fresh conch and lobster salad for lunch and fresh eggs for breakfast. The all-inclusive plan is the way to go and includes a 14 ft Boston Whaler to use every day which was so nice! Highly recommended. One of my top 3 places I have ever been to!
