Paris, France
I first went to Paris a few years ago and fell instantly in love. The streets are filled with energy and culture and of course the amazing food. I made plans to meet up with my good friend and French rapper Monseigneur Mike and his girlfriend Joyce and they met me at the airport. It was Valentines day and they were so sweet to spend it with me! He even mentioned it in a song he wrote for my Vampire project which you can hear by clicking here! and you can hear the English verse beginning at exactly the 1 minute mark! I had just flown in from London around 8pm and we went to my hotel then out to dinner where I had steak tartar which was so NASTY!!!!!! which he loves yet he refused to try an oyster! How does THAT make sense? lol But we had some drinks and I had my first order of escargot in Paris along with some amazing wine and chicken fat roasted potatoes that were the best I have ever had in my life! I don't know the name of the place we ate but one day I'll find out and post it. It was in the Latin quarter and just outstanding!
I saw most of the city on my first trip but returned a few times since and love it even more! I sat at a street cafe outside the Moulin Rouge and watched the scene go by while eating french fries and drinking German beer, I walked down the Rue St Denis and saw the hookers, I shopped on the Champ-Elysees and toured the Versailles. I got drunk on homemade walnut wine in the Montmarte and hung out at the lesbian bars in La Marais and had one of the best meals of my life at Chez Robert et Louise! I have seen a lot of Paris and cannot wait to return!

for $150 a night it was a decent hotel in a great location and the price included a French breakfast. a no frills budget hotel
I booked this hotel based on traveler reviews and for its great location. The streets surrounding it are filled with boutiques and cafes and centrally located with easy Metro access to the entire city. I love the Bastille which is a very counter-culture section of the city and very historic. This hotel is located at the intersection of boulevard Richard Lenoir and the Overkampf, both very famous Parisian streets. I was there in February so it was chilly outside which I loved and the room I had faced the street and had a huge window that opened all the way which was nice. The room was decent size and the bed was nice and comfortable. The bath situation in Paris is always iffy but this one was ok, even though you get water all over the floor every time. I have yet to find an enclosed bath in Paris! The breakfast was served in the basement which was so cool and midevil looking! It was basic French breakfast with croissant and preserves and cereal and of course great coffee. Nothing special but included and convenient. This hotel has a lift but it is tiny! I couldn't fit in it with my 2 suitcases and usually ended up taking the stairs to my 3rd floor room. After some wine and a big dinner that isn't as easy as you'd think! :) All in all a really good hotel for the money in a great location!

$447 per night and worth every penny. a hidden gem in a beautiful Parisian neighborhood. Included a good breakfast!
The Hotel Luxembourg Parc is in the 6th arrondissement which is a very diverse section of the city and probably my favorite. It is on the left bank of the Seine river and features some amazing statues and museums as well as a very bohemian feel to it. The hotel was set away from the noise of the Saint Germaine cafes and shops so it was quiet at night which is nice and the rooms were absolutely sound proof. The wifi worked really well and the rooms were very large for Paris and the bathroom was nice with unusually good water pressure. The hotel serves a very nice breakfast and unless you tell them not to, they will burst into your room at 8am with a cart filled with fresh croissant and cafe ole and jam. I was PISSED the first morning and cussed the guy out! Christian at the front desk was very nice and helpful and recommended some really great places to eat that aren't touristy which is my favorite! The bed was nice and the pillows were perfect. This is someplace I would stay again for sure. Well worth the money.

I chose this hotel because of it's location. I had never stayed in this area and wanted to give it a try. It is very near the Eiffel Tower and a very nice little boutique hotel. The street outside was so perfect and had many cafes and places to get a great meal as well as easy metro access. The rooms were very large especially for Europe and as big as what you would expect to find in the US. The bathroom as good size and everything is very clean and well appointed. The wifi was not very good and there were times when the signal was very weak and pages wouldn't even load. I was able to get some decent reception so it was hit or miss, but unless you are in Paris on business who gives a shit about wifi ya know? One thing that really stood out about this hotel was the staff. They spoke perfect english and were so nice and helpful in booking reservations for us and making calls when my limited French didn't cut it! :) I think that this is one of my favorite hotels in Paris. A great experience and worth every penny!

$70 per person for dinner and dessert w/ homemade walnut wine! AMAZING and worth it!!!!
I had seen this restaurent on Anthony Bourdain's show "No Reservations" and thought it was so cool the way that everything is cooked in the fireplace which is in the middle of the dining room. So on my first trip to Paris (and everyone after as well!) I made a reservation and had one of the best meals of my life. The place is is in the Marais on the quiet end of the Vielle du Temple so it's tough to find. My taxi driver spoke no english and had never heard of the place so it took some doing to find. When you first walk in the bar is right there and it's a squeeze to get by it. There are large tables and you can see that it seats strangers together which I hate. There are a few tables for 2 but those were full so you get what is available. I was early so I had to wait at the bar which was nice. I saw their famous fireplace with several steaks and pots of roasting potatoes so I got really anxious to try it out. They finally took us to the basement which was midevil with the rounded stone walls and sat us at a large table for 8 by ourselves. I was happy for the moment but knew others would come and ruin my privacy! We ordered escargot which was outstanding and the bread is incredible. We ordered the steak for 2 which is a porterhouse cut on the bone and about 2 inches thick with all of the fat still on it. The wine was great and if I can tell you the potatoes were the best I have ever had I wouldn't be doing it justice. They are cooked in a pot with the drippings from the roasting chickens and have a wonderful sea salt on them. The portions are enormous and I left this place so happy and full that I couldn't have dessert. A do not miss french experience that is like nothing you will have here in the US. Please, do yourself a favor and go to Chez Robert et Louise!
I was staying down the street and kept walking by this place which had the most amazing aromas coming out of it every time. I had tried twice and the door is locked but you can see people eating inside! You knock and only the top half of the door is opened which was really funny and then you are told that they have no seating. So I made a reservation and man was I happy that I did! You are greeted at the split door by the owner who is this wonderful little frenchman and once he finds out you have never been there you are educated on the french perfection of cooking duck as well as his passion for making his famous l'orange sauce and his homemade walnut wine. The duck was the greatest thing I have ever had and the wine was like nothing I have ever tasted and gets you shitfaced drunk in 2 glasses! He has bottles of fermenting oranges and wines all over the shelves of ther restuarant! The place is very small and you order from a chalkboard that he brings to the table. The food was incredible and then the Creme Bulee was brought out that blew me away. They don't use the fast blow torch method to caramelize the sugar, they use a red hot branding iron that makes this huge smoke cloud of caramel goodness and there is a branded duck in the center of your crust on the creme brulee. One of the greatest meals of my life. This is a hidden gem you MUST visit!

Paris, France
One of the world's great cities and my personal favorite. The architecture and culture and of course the food are better than any other place I have been. The people get a bad rap and like any other city you find good and bad. Just try to speak a little french and make sure you greet someone before you speak to them! It is extremely rude to just begin speaking without saying hello first! If you wish to experience french rudeness, that is a sure fire way to make that happen. Everyone should spend a week in France. I love the countryside as well as the city and Paris is a magical place. The culture is amazing, the style and the energy are great. Make sure you take the train to Versailles and see that castle! Spend some time walking around the city and stay away from the touristy places because Paris has so much to offer! You will never be bored and of course, visit the Louvre and see the Mona Lisa and the Venus and the other great works of art that you can only see there. See the Notre Dame and walk along the Seine and just sit a street cafe and have a sandwich and coffee and listen to people speak that beautiful language and be amazed and how lucky you are to be there. I think that Paris is the greatest city on earth. I cannot wait to return and this time I'm staying the La Marais at a bed and breakfast! Stay tuned for more Paris from Mariah Milano!
